actually maximalism in a lot of ways as well. It's it's like they're very very very very good at the things that they do and they they do them in their own way. And I think I can identify with that in terms of there's a certain degree of independence that the Japanese culture has and that they do things their own way. Um they don't necessarily look to the west for how to do things. Um and I think there's something very interesting about that. And so I think for us, you know, we've always tried to do things our own way. We have our own aesthetic. We have our own approach. Um we're not jumping on bandwagons. We don't chase trends. We just try try to figure out what's actually good, what actually matters, what actually works, and let's do that. Let's not worry about what other people think we should be doing, but what we know we should be doing. So, I don't know if that's Japanese at all, but I would say that

there's an appreciation for some of those details um that I really appreciate in the Japanese culture. And so, you know, we I think it's just sort of part of our approach to things. What's your favorite tea? I drink typically drink matcha these days, so I'm like a big matcha drinker. Um or I'll drink like a Japanese like not the latte the real no latte. Yeah. Just I I uh just you know the just the the mix or the um the ground you know tea leaves the powder basically in water and whisk it up. But I also like have a nice centra in the afternoon. Japanese centra guuro or something like that. Um I just like Japanese greens green teas. Um they're just I don't know there's something really clean and crisp about them that I really seem to enjoy and they're a little bit bitter for some people but I I'm into them. I like coffee too though. I'm not like a tea only guy. People will be hating me for

these questions. Um Brian everyone talk about Brian Bailey your head of uh product strategy recently did a post on LinkedIn that at his previous company he always dreamed about doing a second product but it felt impossible. and at 37 signals. In the three years that he has been with the company, you guys launched three new products, improved hay, improved base camp, maintained a couple legacy products and that with only 60 people. I wanted to ask him himself, but he disabled comments on his LinkedIn post. So, what do you think is it about Basecam versus whatever previous companies he was at or clearly the majority of companies that you guys are capable of that while previously it felt impossible to him? probably a little bit of insanity,
