The story of a product they killed—and why

loose groups. And so there needs to we think there needs to be a tool for those kinds of groups um that need a little bit of organization, a little bit of ways to get in touch with each other, a history so things aren't just lost in the ether when like some board member leaves and everything was on their computer and now it's all gone. So we started making this tool and as we got into it, we realized um that actually this is stuff I want in base camp. I want base camp to do these things. Base Camp is very good for active groups. It's sort of good for sort of loose groups, but it can feel like overkill for a lot of small loose style groups. And we want to make Base Camp a very good fit for that kind of usage as well. So, we decided to stop working on that product and bring some of these ideas back into base camp. So, that's going to

exist in Base Camp at some point as well. But other than that, I can't think of anything else, frankly, at the moment that I wish we had that we don't have. Except actually, here's one thing that came to mind. There's a writing tool that I wish we had or I wish I had. When I write, I like to write I'd like to have like version control at the word or line level. So, I'd like to like type five different headlines for a piece, but I'd like to do it in place. And I like to be able to scroll through them really quickly, like, what about this headline? What about this headline? Or this word, what about this word? What about this word? What about this word? How does it read with this word? Or here's a paragraph. What if I took this sentence out? I like to be able to iterate very quickly through things um when I write that there. There's no tool that does this. There's no tool that does it well actually or even close to

it. That's something I would like to see exist. Um, I'd like to maybe do that at some point, but it's not something that's high on my list, but it'd be cool to have something like that. There you go, guys. What's the Where do you usually write your first draft into? Um, I usually use IIA Writer uh on the Mac. Ah. Uhhuh. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, just cuz it's a blank sheet. I I'll order notes or something. Um, sometimes I'll write an email like in hey um if I'm going to do like a hey world post which is my blog I'll just open an email because that's how you post to hey world but typically it's IA writer actually. Yeah by the way I don't know your your real name because it still says venthormi but someone said I am using base camp among other things for running a community for elixir in grease has been great so far but I'll love to see what's coming up
